TOM'S BIO

Tom Sanders shoots for a wide variety of clients, from Russian Esquire magazine to senior living communities. A professor of photography at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Sanders is also the author of two photography books. “The Last Good War: The Faces and Voices of  WWII” was published by Welcome Books in 2010. As the winner of the 2010 Foreword Reviews' Book of the Year Award for Editor's Choice Nonfiction as well as a selection of The History Book Club and The Military Book Club, this collection of portraits was called “meticulously rendered and brilliantly lit” by the Chicago Tribune. In 2020, Sanders published his second book, “Vietnam War Portraits: The Faces and Voices.” 

Sanders holds a bachelors’ degree in photography from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and a masters’ degree in photography from San Jose State University. A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Sanders now resides in Savannah, GA, with his wife, Allison, and two daughters, Fiona and Osla. Sanders has spoken at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, Houston Museum of Fine Arts, Idaho Historical Society, WWII Museum in New Orleans, and many other locations. Whether shooting sub-cultural portraits, celebrities or advertisements, Sanders employs a humanistic, authentic approach, and he is well-known by clients for his congenial and professional attitude.
