Erik Huggers Variety Weekly Intel
Here are my recent portraits of Vice President
General Manager of Intel Media, Erik Huggers for the new "Variety Weekly." I spent the day taking portraits of Erik all around the Intel office campus. I even got to photograph him on the roof in front of Silicon Valley's largest satellite. The satellite was so big to get the whole structure in the photo including Erik, I had stand so far back you couldn't even identify his face. I had to stick to the closer photographs of Huggers in front of the satellite. My favorite photo is the tight shot on the black background of Erik. The photo has an energy exhibiting Erik's pioneer optimism on media and technology.

Variety Weekly Tear Sheet... TV Producers

TV PRODUCERS FOR VARIETY WEEKLY
I photographed TV producers last week for the new Variety Weekly.
According to the Huffington Post, "Hollywood trade magazine Variety launches a new era on Tuesday with the publication of its first weekly glossy magazine focused on in-depth, analytical stories aimed squarely at entertainment industry professionals.
A week after 80 years of daily publication ceased following a change in ownership, the new editors at Variety say the magazine will shine a "laser focus" on the business needs of Hollywood rather than moving toward the more celebrity-filled content seen on other entertainment outlets."
It is kind of exciting I got to shoot for the very first Variety Weekly... it is somewhat historical.
Basically I took straight portraits of the TV producers capturing glimpses of their personality while talking TV. It was intriguing to hear them talk about their current favorite TV shows and what makes a good television show:

VIETNAM VETERANS PORTRAITS AND HOPEFULLY MY NEXT BOOK
WWII VETERAN AND QUOTE OF THE DAY
“I spent most of my time in basic
training, helping to train new recruits.
I was a prick. I turned boys into men.”
William King, Seaman, U.S.
Navy
I have roughly 500 WWII veterans that I have photographed and I figure
why not share their WWII stories instead of just sitting on my computer.
Yes, their stories have been shared in my book (THE LAST GOOD WAR: THE FACES AND VOICE OF WWII). There are also a lot WWII veterans that did not make it into my book

Willis Loehr, Col., ret., U. S. Air Force
Col. Loehr was an Air Force pilot
with 30 years of distinguished service. Among his experiences was a mid-air
collision with a German plane that sheared the left wing off of his
airplane. He was forced to bail out at
300 mph with a damaged chute.
“Now the canopy opens and the
seat propels you clear of the plane.
Back then you had to climb over the side. You just hoped you wouldn’t hit the plane. I
hit the tail.”
Happy VDAY! Here is a shot from my "Lasting Love" Series of couples that have been married for over fifty years I did last year for one of my clients.
Abstract Corks... look like the moon.
I was messing around photographing used wine corks this weekend for my wine photography website. Wine corks are somewhat mundane looking or at least I thought they would be to photograph. Viewing the stained corks on black and only showing the stained wine end is somewhat interesting looking. I think blown up big as a print would look really beautiful...
